I Will Not Scream For This Song

-->
-->
To continue on my last couple posts, I will keep going with this obnoxious noise rant. Well ladies and gentlemen…I have another. Now I want to clear up that I do not mean to always bash these artists’ talents, because most of them are talented in some way. However, this song proves that music is slowing going down hill. If this song is number one on the top 40 right now, I see a serious problem.
         ‘Scream and Shout” (featuring Britney Spears) by Will.I.Am is possibly the most atrocious song I have yet to post on. Now with every song I have been posting on, I feel each one are completing their purpose. That purpose is appealing to the young generation and being played in clubs around the world. With that being said, it is not something I want to hear on a daily basis. This song is very similar to Diamonds. The lyrics “I want to scream and shout, and let it all out” is repeated close to the same amount as “diamonds in the sky” in the song diamonds.  I am truly get sick of this repetitive lyric writing that is turning into a four minute hit.
         The obnoxious noise featured in this song sounds like a bird. Yes, a bird. I truly don’t understand what the appeal is of these sounds. Do record producers really sit back in the studio unanimously agree that it sounds good.  Every time I hear that clinking sound I want to rip my hair out. Now I won’t lie, if I hear this song out or in a club, which I believe was their intention; I would dance. But if this song came on the radio, I would switch the song immediately. Please someone help me understand how these songs are becoming popular.

This song is not a Diamond......A pebble at most

Okay America, or the population who enjoy my blog……please, we cannot let the Maroon Five song ‘One More Night’ be number one again. If it is I will pull my hair out and move to Canada! I mean what is so appealing? I can sing to you  ‘Oo’s’ over and over again to you all if that will make you happy. I truly don’t understand it. Again, I am not trying to bash Maroon Five. Like I said in my previous post I like them, I just don’t understand how that song continues to do so well. I promise, this will be the last time I rant about this song. I just hope people understand that anyone can go into a studio and produce the song the Maroon Five currently has at number one!
This post, I’ve had the pleasure of listening to this song almost wherever I go. I swear this song is played at least once while I’m in the car. It’s being over played and has risen to the top 5 in no time. The song I’m referring to is ‘Diamonds’ by Rihanna.  Personally, I believe Rihanna is a very talented artist. She has a stunning voice, and always seems to throw out top hits. However her writers, for me, are taking effectiveness away from her voice. When I hear one of her songs, I seem to get trapped in the obnoxious similarity in each song she produces.
After listening to it a few times, I had to see how many times Rihanna would repeat herself, The first time I heard it I asked myself “how many times will I hear shine bright like a diamond?” When I finished listening, I had counted twenty two times that the phrase ‘shine bright like a diamond’ was sung throughout the song. Twenty-two!! Can her writers not produce a song that has more then thirty words in it? Do they really need to repeat a phrase twenty times? Rihanna is talented! Why waste that on lyrics that a four year old could write. The song is 4:47 long and in that time, there is another phrase ‘beautiful like diamonds in the sky’ is sung sixteen times. My last fact, I promise, is that from 2:48 to 4:47 those two phrases that I have discussed, are the only two that entire 2 minutes.
 I understand what has happened to music, and why we are hearing songs that have repeated lyrics that are heard for 50% of the song.

A plus side on the TOP 40

-->
Again America? One more night is back at the top this week. I I’m just as sad as I was last week, if not my sadness is deeper. I could continue to rant on this song, however I feel that talking about another song will help me recover from this sad site.

      This week I would like to talk about a song I’m actually happy to see on the Top 40. ‘Some Nights’ by the band FUN was a song I wasn’t to fond of at first. However after listening to it several times, I can’t help but enjoy it. What originally threw me off of the track was the auto-tuned nonsense that plagued the middle of the song. The use of auto-tune always turns me away at first and I never give the song a chance. I also found the lyrics to not make much sense and hard to hear at certain points.

      However with that being said the skill of this lead sing trumps every criticism I have. The harmonies in this peace are truly so creative and give me chill every time I hear it. The way they are placed throughout the song catches me off-guard each time. It’s one of those songs I picture just pumping a team or on at the beginning of a sporting event. It’s also one I feel movies will eventually use. It has that nice upbeat background that gets the listener excited.

      I also really enjoy the indie, rock feel the track gives, its not like the new poppy feel each song seems to have. I still feel like the lyrics don’t make sense, or at least I can’t hear them, however the musicality of this song is really intriguing.

      After listening to FUN’s entire album, it wasn’t just this song that caught my attention and the band proved the keep a consistent feel of their music and didn’t veer into a pop track. I think this band can stay successful if they stay on this track with out getting into the stereotypical ‘Mock 40’ sound.

It looks like FUN may have been able to answer my question:
