To continue
on my last couple posts, I will keep going with this obnoxious noise rant. Well
ladies and gentlemen…I have another. Now I want to clear up that I do not mean
to always bash these artists’ talents, because most of them are talented in some
way. However, this song proves that music is slowing going down hill. If this
song is number one on the top 40 right now, I see a serious problem.
‘Scream
and Shout” (featuring Britney Spears) by Will.I.Am is possibly the most atrocious
song I have yet to post on. Now with every song I have been posting on, I feel
each one are completing their purpose. That purpose is appealing to the young
generation and being played in clubs around the world. With that being said, it
is not something I want to hear on a daily basis. This song is very similar to
Diamonds. The lyrics “I want to scream and shout, and let it all out” is
repeated close to the same amount as “diamonds in the sky” in the song
diamonds. I am truly get sick of
this repetitive lyric writing that is turning into a four minute hit.
The
obnoxious noise featured in this song sounds like a bird. Yes, a bird. I truly don’t
understand what the appeal is of these sounds. Do record producers really sit
back in the studio unanimously agree that it sounds good. Every time I hear that clinking sound I
want to rip my hair out. Now I won’t lie, if I hear this song out or in a club,
which I believe was their intention; I would dance. But if this song came on
the radio, I would switch the song immediately. Please someone help me
understand how these songs are becoming popular.
Where has
all the good music gone?
I honestly couldn't agree with you any more about the song and frankly the top 40 format in general. I'm currently a classic hits DJ but I try to listen to other formats and how the DJ's present their shows to see what I can improve on. I really don't like listening to the top 40 stations because a large portion of the top 40 songs today are performed by people that can't play instruments and are geared more towards club audiences than people that really appreciate music. If you are looking for the "good music" you need to look to local musicians or some non top 40 acts. I caught Wise Medicine this weekend downtown at EBC. I thought they were pretty good, you can check them out here: https://www.facebook.com/wisemedicine
ReplyDeleteExactly! I couldn't agree more with what you just said. They gear everything now towards that club feel and we are losing any signs of real musicianship. I actually caught one song of there's as well and was looking for a way to hear more from them, so thank you I will for sure check it out!
