Talent on the Top 40

A celebratory post is needed! ONE MORE NIGHT HAS FALLEN! Unfortunately it fell to ‘Diamonds’, which I talked about last week, but its better then nothing! This week, I will post on ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ by Bruno Mars.
I personally have been a fan from this song since day one. I am a huge Bruno Mars fan and this is another song that I don’t feel like mocking. I personally feel that it belongs in the Top 40. Bruno Mars is a very talented performer who sings higher then any male since the 80’s Rock years.  Unlike most of the other songs on the top 40, you can actually tell that Bruno is not auto tuned. The chorus is catchy and there are more then 10 words repeated for 2 minutes of the song. His song rose to number 3 from number 18 in one week.. This just proves how popular a song can get in one week if someone shows talent in their vocals.
I love almost everything about the song except for one thing. The funky sounds in the background ruin the vibe of this song in my opinion! This newfound noise making in the background in every song is not needed. This song had the “brilliant” idea of putting these ‘oh’ noises that sound like awful sirens. I don’t understand why these artists, or record produces feel to add obnoxious noises in the background.
With that being said, Bruno’s voice, in my mind, brings justice to the fact that his song is in the top 40. However all I can say is cut the obnoxious noise and just sing the song without the special effects!! IF i have to listen to one more song with weird noises or crazy 'oh's' in the background, i'll just stop listening to music in general
Where has all the good music gone?

  1. I love "Locked Out Of Heaven!" It's so catchy and I can't stop listening to it!

I have to agree with you on the 'oh' noises, however. It seems like it has become a fad to add the obnoxious sound effects into the background of songs, even if they're incredibly annoying. Why can't music just be music anymore?

  2. Seriously! I have no idea where these sounds are coming from or why artists feel that it sounds appeasing to its audience. Thank you for that awesome question cause I agree. I just want to hear good old music again with out this auto tune and funky sound effects!

  3. I agree with you whole-heartedly. Bruno Mars is one of my favorite artists but this song throws me off. I'm not a huge fan of the weird sound effects either. I think we need to go back to music being actual music. Also, totally agree with you about "Shine Bright Like a Diamond", it's lame!

  4. Exactly! He is super talented but the odd things in the background just throw it all off for me. Its nice to know that I am not the only one who wishes for this fad to go away! Yes, Thank you! That song takes no skill to write....I cannot stand it!
